Many have heard of the Target credit/debit card data breach. The company says that card numbers, expiration dates and CVV codes — the three- or four-digit numbers printed on the card to provide extra security — may have been taken from as many as 40 million people who shopped at U.S. Target stores between November 27 and December 15. People who shopped online were not affected.
If you shopped in a Target during this time period using your American Exchange Debit card or any other credit or debit card, it is important that you contact your card company and cancel that card and have a new card issued. Transfund manages American Exchange Banks debit cards and is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-791-2525 or you can contact American Exchange weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 405-756-3101.
In addition American Exchange has mailed notifications to bank customers who were proven to have used their cards at Target in this time frame. The notification will explain what you need to do in order to properly protect your account.
